Locarno Film Festival tribute to Howard Shore in an auteur short.

An original score, a pipe organ and the note-based dialogue between a young musician and a great composer. Howard Shore, the soundscape of Cronenberg's films and the author of the music in The Lord of the Rings, experiences the silence of a Locarno church, listening to the birth of an original composition.
Music returns to music, from notes stuck in the mind to the ones unveiled on paper, from experienced inspiration to young execution. It's all here and now, in a silent and immediate passing of the torch, between four hands that grab the music, work on it and unleash it on the Festival, turning it into emotion.

After Garrett Brown in 2014 and Walter Murch last year, PardoLive pays a new video tribute to the winner of the Festival del film Locarno's Vision Award Nescens. A portrait of an auteur, directed - like the previous ones - by Ticinese filmmaker Niccolò Castelli, but with the Canadian maestro's participation from the onset. It was Shore himself, in fact, who sent his original composition Fanfare for Organ and Brass to the Festival, putting it in the hands of young composer Paolo Fornasier. He then ended up here, at Collegio Papio in Ascona, in front of the keys of an organ, in the name of music.

A Conversation. With Walter Murch.

Locarno dressed as San Francisco, Piazza Grande that extends itself to look like Union Square.
When you’re facing Walter Murch and a Revox, you know right away that something unique is coming.
Sounds, reverberations, knowledge, insights. The rest is silence.
Walter Murch recieved the Vision Award – Nescens.
